Our Ethics
At Fermata, emergent technologies, like AI, play a critical role in delivering our storyliving experiences.

It is also true that generative language models demand creative and power-intensive resources, which not only raises many environmental concerns but also concerns regarding artist ownership and representation.

We are developing a set of guidelines and commitments that reimagines best practices for sustainability, setting a precedent as industry leaders for new standards that account for the myriad of challenges AI presents.
Our Commitments
1
Transparency
Fermata will monitor the impact of our AI use by tracking direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions. We will share those findings in an annual report that will also measure water consumption as well as all efforts to advance sustainability through carbon offsetting and removal among other climate solutions.
2
Philanthropy
In addition to Fermata's own sustainability goals, we will also be allocating 1% of all profits to organizations that are producing real-world results right now. We are partnering with organizations like Tradewater and Earthshot to take meaningful climate action and shift the narrative from one of despair to one of hope.
3
Conservation
Healthy ecosystems are fundamental for life on earth, and Fermata plans to invest in cultivating biodiversity in urban areas as well as those rural communities affected by datacenters. Other initiatives include habitat restoration for threatened bird species and urban forest rehabilitation.
4
Artist Equity
We rely on the brilliant work of engineers and artists to design and create vast worlds and experiences filled with life. The humans that support our work are invaluable, and we will continue to build our team, filling it with capable, creative, and passionate people ready to set a new standard for AI.
